Fundamental Studies on Biomass Hydrolysis in Supercritical Water for Production of Valuable Products: Sugars and Bio-oil
Researcher: Dr. Danilo Cantero
Principal Investigator: Professor Jeff Tester
Danilo Cantero's project is focused in the study of ligno cellulosic biomass hydrolysis in supercritical water. Danilo is working in the development a new reaction model for cellulose hydrolysis focusing in the interaction of cellulose with the solvent as well as the mass transfer limitations of lignin matrix. In addition, Danilo is working in the design of new reaction mechanism to maximize the production of a oily phase from lignocellulosic biomass. To do so, several co-reaction are being tested after cellulose hydrolysis avoiding the production of char at large reaction times
